Peoria Unified School District #11 provides primary and secondary education for most of Peoria, along with some areas of Glendale and Youngtown, a small part of Surprise, and unincorporated areas of Maricopa County. The district has 44 schools and is headquartered at 6330 West Thunderbird Road in Glendale. Getting around

Loop 101, known as the Agua Fria Freeway, runs north-south along the eastern edge of Peoria and connects to other areas of Metro Phoenix. Interstate 10 and Interstate 17 are also accessible from Peoria for regional travel. The city is located in the northwest area of Metropolitan Phoenix, roughly a 30-minute drive from downtown Phoenix.

Lake Pleasant Regional Park, a large park with water-based recreation, hiking trails, and a marina at Pleasant Harbor, is located within Peoria city limits and offers over 100 miles of shoreline. The city maintains more than 30 parks and 20 miles of trails, with additional multi-use trail access at areas such as Peoria Sunrise Mountain Preserve and Calderwood Butte Preserve. Old Town Peoria is home to the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts, and the Arizona Broadway Theatre operates as a dinner theater in the city. Park West, an open-air retail center near Loop 101 and Northern Avenue, offers shopping and dining options.
